This guide is for Account Admins. In this guide, we cover how user roles and permission choices configured in Portal3 translate into what users can see and do in Videri Ignite. For foundational knowledge, see Understanding and Managing User Roles & Permissions.

User Access In Videri Ignite

Based on the role assigned to a user, the app adapts to what each user can actually do, hiding shortcuts and surfaces they don't have access to. When defining user roles, be sure to consider how different access levels impact user access.

Access Matrix

The following chart explains what users can do in Videri Ignite with different access levels:

Playlists	Manage playlists.	See playlists.	Users without access cannot see playlists, unless they have the Scheduling permission.

Projects	--	See projects through the mobile layout editor, but only if the user also has "full" access for Layouts.	Users without access cannot filter for content using projects.
Schedule**	Schedule content and modify existing schedules. Users can see devices, assets, playlists, layouts, and campaigns, even if they don't have access to those features.	View schedules.	Users without access cannot see schedules or schedule content.
Campaigns	Assign devices to campaigns.	--	--
Alerts***	--	View alerts.	Users without access cannot see alerts.

*Users with the Installation permission are granted temporary access to certain features during the provisioning process, even if their role prohibits access. The following permissions are granted:

Adding an installation photo
Renaming a device
Configuring a fallback network
Modifying device orientation
Configuring brightness and color settings
Modifying the maintenance schedule
Configuring a brightness schedule
Tagging a device
Assigning a device to an existing campaign
Scheduling content available in the Workspace where the device is being provisioned

These permissions are granted only for the devices being provisioned and are revoked as soon as the user finishes the process.

** Full access to "Schedule" is the only path to scheduling, regardless of base access. A user with full access for content cannot schedule anything they upload without full access for "Schedule"; a user with view-only access for content can schedule anything if they have full access for "Schedule".

*** Alert access has a floor. A user with no access for alerts will not see the alerts surface at all. A user with full or view-only access for alerts can see alerts but they cannot troubleshoot devices without full access for devices.

Recommended Permission Configurations

The following chart provides recommendations for role configuration. While these aren't enforced roles, we highly recommend using these configuration as a base when managing users.

What Users See Based On Their Permissions

Videri Ignite adapts to what each user can do.

User will not see the "Set up a new device" or "Create a new Wall" shortcuts on the Home Screen. User cannot view device schedules. User cannot make any changes to devices.
User has full access for installation and devices.	User will only see the Home and Devices icons in the bottom navbar. User will not see any alert information on the Home Screen. User cannot view device schedules.
User has full access for installation, devices, and alerts.	User will not see the Schedule or Content icons in the bottom navbar. User cannot view device schedules.
User has full access for installation, devices, schedule, and alerts.	User will not see the Content icon in the bottom navbar. User cannot assign a device to a campaign.
User only has full access for Walls.	User will not see anything in Videri Ignite.
