When a firmware update is deployed by Videri, devices download the update and wait until an appropriate time to update to ensure that your content does not get interrupted. We refer to this as a device's “maintenance schedule”. |
Reviewing the Current Maintenance Window
To review a device's current maintenance window:
- Click on "Devices" in the left sidebar to see your list of devices.
- Click on the target device to open the device drawer.
- Click the "Advanced Settings" button in the top right corner of the device drawer.
- Scroll down to the 'Maintenance schedule' section to review the timing of the maintenance window.
| NOTE: Unless the maintenance window is set to "When an update is available", the device will only update between the hours defined by the start and end time of the maintenance schedule. The device will only update on the days defined by the maintenance schedule. |
Defining the Maintenance Schedule
To define the maintenance schedule:
- Click on "Devices" in the left sidebar to see your list of devices.
- Click on the target device to open the device drawer.
- Click the "Advanced Settings" button in the top right corner of the device drawer.
- Scroll down to the 'Maintenance schedule' section. Click the "Set maintenance schedule" button, located at the bottom left of the 'Maintenance schedule' section.
- Select the frequency for the maintenance window.
- To allow the device to update at any time, select "When an update is available".
- To allow the device to update at a specific time every day, select "Daily".
- To allow the device to update at a specific time on certain days of the week, select "Weekly". Click on the days that the device should be permitted to update.
- To allow the device to update at a specific time only on a specific day of the month, select "Monthly". Use the dropdown to select which day of the month the device can update on.
[OPTIONAL] Click the date field to define a start date. The maintenance window will go into effect from this date.
- Click the 'Start Time' field to define a start time. Click the 'End Time' field to define an end time.
NOTE: The device will only update between the hours defined by the start and end times. If the maintenance schedule was defined as "When an update is available", the device will update whenever it receives new firmware. - Click "Save Schedule".
Temporarily Overriding the Maintenance Schedule
Sometimes, it may be useful to update a device outside its scheduled maintenance window without changing the maintenance schedule. In this case, a one-time override is necessary.
To temporarily override a device's maintenance schedule:
- Click on "Devices" in the left sidebar to see your list of devices.
- Click on the target device to open the device drawer.
- Click the "Advanced Settings" button in the top right corner of the device drawer.
- Scroll down to the 'Maintenance schedule' section. Click the "Set maintenance schedule" button, located at the bottom left of the 'Maintenance schedule' section.
- Without modifying any other options, tick the 'One-time override' checkbox.
- Click "Save Schedule".
