Brightness Scheduling – VIDERI Support Portal

Brightness schedules allow you to automatically adjust a device's brightness at specific times of day or on specific days. You can also use a brightness schedule to turn a display off by setting its target brightness to 0%.

Multiple brightness schedules can be configured for the same device.

NOTE: If brightness schedules overlap, the most recently modified schedule takes priority.

Viewing Brightness Schedules

To view the brightness schedules configured for a device:

Navigate to "Devices".
Select the target device to open the device drawer.
Click the "Display" tab.
Locate the 'Brightness Schedules' section. You may need to expand the section if it's is collapsed.

NOTE: Brightness schedules can be viewed in calendar view by opening device advanced settings. To view schedules in calendar view:

Navigate to "Devices".
Select the target device to open the device drawer.
Click "Advanced Settings".
Click the "Display Settings" tab.
Locate the 'Brightness Schedules' section.
Use the view controls above the schedule list to switch to calendar view.
Select a date to view schedules occurring on that date.

Multi-Output Devices

For multi-output devices, the 'Overview' tab displays brightness schedules across the device's outputs both in the drawer and in advanced settings. Schedule indicators are color-coded by output to make output-specific schedules easier to distinguish.

Select an individual output tab to view only the brightness schedules assigned to that output.

Creating a Brightness Schedule

To create a new brightness schedule:

Navigate to "Devices" and select the target device.
Click "Advanced Settings".
Click the "Display Settings" tab.
In the 'Brightness settings' section, click "+ New".
If you are configuring a multi-output device, select the output or outputs the schedule should apply to under "Schedule to".
Use the Target brightness slider to set the desired brightness level. To turn the display off during the scheduled period, set the target brightness to 0%.
Configure when the brightness setting should apply:
- Leave "All day" selected to apply the target brightness for the entire day.
- To define a specific time period, clear "All day", then enter a Start time and End time.
- To define additional time periods within the same schedule, click + Add Time Slot and configure another start and end time.
Select the Start date for the schedule.
Under Repeat every, select how often the schedule should repeat:
- Day — repeats daily.
- Week — repeats on the selected days of the week.
- Month — repeats on the selected days of the month.
[Optional] Enter a date in Until to specify when the schedule should stop repeating. Leave this field blank for a schedule with no defined end date.
Click "Preview" to review the schedule, if desired.
Click "Save Schedule".

NOTE: If the new schedule overlaps an existing schedule, the most recently modified schedule takes priority.

Creating a Brightness Schedule For Multiple Devices

To define a brightness schedule for devices in batch:

Click on "Devices" in the left sidebar to see your list of devices.
Tick the checkboxes for the target devices.
Click the "Actions" button on the right, under the searchbar.
Follow steps 5-12 in Creating a Brightness Schedule.

NOTE: In some cases, you will need to activate brightness schedules for the device batch. As of Version 3.26, this is done via the command terminal. To ensure the batch schedule works correctly:

With the same devices selected, click the "Actions" button on the right, under the searchbar.
Click "Command terminal".
Type the command enable_brightness_schedule:=true and hit "Enter" (Windows) or "Return" (Mac) on your keyboard.

Editing a Brightness Schedule

To edit an existing brightness schedule:

Navigate to "Devices" and select the target device.
Click "Advanced Settings".
Click the "Display Settings" tab.
In the 'Brightness settings' section, locate the schedule you want to modify.
Click the "Edit" icon.
Modify the schedule in the Edit brightness schedule window.
Save your changes.

WARNING: Because overlapping schedules are prioritized by their most recent modification, editing a schedule may also change its priority relative to other schedules occurring at the same time.

Enabling or Disabling Brightness Schedules

Use the "Apply schedules" toggle in the 'Brightness settings' section of the drawer or advanced settings page to control whether the device applies its configured brightness schedules.

Turning "Apply schedules" off temporarily prevents the schedules from controlling device brightness without deleting the schedules themselves. The Default brightness setting determines the device's brightness when it is not being overridden by an active brightness schedule. Troubleshooting Brightness Scheduling

If a brightness schedule is not being applied as expected:

Navigate to "Devices" and select the affected device.
Select the target device to open the device drawer.
Click the "Display" tab.
Locate the 'Brightness Schedules' section. You may need to expand the section if it's is collapsed.
Confirm that "Apply schedules" is enabled.
Confirm that the schedule applies to the correct date, time, and—on multi-output devices—the correct output.
Check for another schedule occurring at the same time. When schedules overlap, the most recently modified schedule takes priority.
