The Activity Log provides a comprehensive audit trail of user and system activity within Portal3. It helps administrators understand who performed an action, what changed, and when the activity occurred.
The Activity Log supports enterprise governance, compliance, security, and troubleshooting by providing visibility into changes made across a tenant.
Accessing the Activity Log
Access to the Activity Log is managed through Role Management > Feature Sets.
By default, only users with the System Admin role have access to the Activity Log feature set.
Users with access to the Activity Log can view activity across the entire tenant, including actions involving objects or Workspaces that they would not otherwise have permission to access. Keep this broad visibility in mind when granting Activity Log permissions to other roles.
Understanding Activity Entries
Each entry in the Activity Log provides information about an individual user or system action. For example: [username] updated name for [device ABC123] from Lobby to Main Entrance
Entries may include:
- Driver: The user or process that initiated the activity. User actions display the user's email address, while automated or scheduled actions display
System. - Action: The action that occurred, such as creating, deleting, renaming, or sending a command.
- Target: The object affected by the action, identified by its object type and name or ID.
- The object's name is generally displayed for primary actions.
- The object's ID may be displayed for activities generated as a result of an action on another object.
- Timestamp: The date and time the activity occurred.
- Location: The Workspace associated with the affected object, when applicable.
- Value change: For supported updates, the previous and new values.
- Additional details: An expandable section that may appear for batch operations and list individual affected items.
Related Activities
Some actions cause additional changes to other objects. When related activities are available, the entry displays a "Related" button.
Click "Related" to open the Related Activities panel and view activities associated with the original action. Related activities are ordered from most to least relevant.
For example, deleting a device that causes a Wall to become incomplete may also generate a related activity indicating that the Wall changed from "Ready for Scheduling" to "Draft".
